In pursuit of the world’s lowest-impact aluminum bike
We’re moving away from fossil-fuel powered suppliers to a better process for alloy bikes and parts — and it’s addressing the number one contributor to our greenhouse gas emissions in a major way.
Bringing circularity to tires
When your tires have taken their last ride, you can now recycle them at any Trek retail store in the US for free. That’s thanks to a partnership with Liberty Tire Recycling, who’s helping to recirculate, reuse, and repurpose tires into safe, eco-friendly products.
Renewable energy
Trek’s headquarters and US manufacturing is powered entirely by renewable energy through validated Renewable Energy Credits (RECs). By 2030, we’ll be purchasing and retiring RECs for each of Trek’s owned facilities globally.
Recycled plastics
We’re continuing to find many new opportunities to use recycled plastics on bikes and gear. Today, 38 of our products — including bottle cages, grip cores, textiles, and helmets — contain a percentage of recycled plastics.
Smarter, planet-friendlier helmets
To help lighten the footprint of helmets, an essential accessory for every rider, we use recycled EPS foam in select models. This recycled material has the same protective properties with a significantly lower impact.
Plastic made from plants
The Voda Bio water bottle has a 95% plant-based body that’s 100% recyclable and free from BPA and phthalates. It’s designed to deliver the same durability and function you expect at a fraction of the footprint.
Minimizing the high environmental cost of batteries
Batteries make e-bikes possible — but they come with a hefty environmental price tag. We’re working on solutions to change that, making e-bike batteries live longer and making them easier to recycle.
Trade us your used bike. We’ll give it a second life.
Through our used bike program, Red Barn Refresh, we’re extending the usable life of the products we make and keeping as many bikes as possible out of landfills. Red Barn Refresh makes used bikes available for purchase while reducing the industry’s waste streams.
Building a world of change
We believe bikes can make a world of difference, so we partner with many organizations that use bikes as a force for good for our planet and people. Through our support of PeopleForBikes, World Bicycle Relief, NICA, and others, we're advocating for meaningful change around the world.
