Welcoming community meets stunning scenery: that’s Vancouver by bike.
One of the top 20 most bike-friendly cities in the world, according to the Copenhagenize Index, beautiful Vancouver is a near-ideal place to ride: mild climate, extensive bike lanes, and sprawling urban sanctuaries like Stanley Park.
From the center of town, you can head out on spectacular road bike routes, including the twisting journey to Horseshoe Bay and the steep climb up Seymour Mountain. With a gravel bike, you can access the rougher trails of Stanley Park, go up and over Burnaby Mountain to the east, or head north to Cypress Mountain (you might even have to hike-a-bike a few times).
Since the 1980s, local riders and trail builders have been improving mountain bike trails here, and you can find singletrack on almost every hill in sight — Grouse, Seymour, Fromme, Burke, and Burnaby. An hour north, the quintessential mountain biking town of Squamish has enough trail to last you for months. Feeling fit? Sign up for the Rotary Ride for Rescue, a fundraising race up Cypress, or tackle the 152-km Whistler GranFondo, which starts right in Stanley Park.
