What is different about this model compared to previous versions?

Updated quieter Bosch CX motor
RIB 2.0 updated battery latch system. More secure, less noise.
MX wheels on all bikes other than size Small which will have 27.5” front and rear
Larger 800wh battery, can also run smaller and lighter 600wh battery with a different end cap kit
Increased 160 travel front and rear
Range extender compatibility
Angle-Adjust headset
Leverage rate adjustment chip
Increased dropper insertion

Can bikes with the System Controller be ridden without the Mini Remote?

Yes. If someone removes their Mini Remote, they can still use the on/off and mode selector buttons on the System Controller. However, they will not have Walk Mode.

Is the System Controller also wireless?

The System Controller connects to the Mini Remote via Bluetooth but connects to the rest of the e-system with an internal wiring harness.

Do any frame sizes feature curved top tubes for lower standover?

No, all sizes with have the same top tube look.

Is the bike compatible with aftermarket shocks?

Most 205x65 shocks will fit. Rockshox Vivid, Rockshox SDLX, Fox Float, Fox FloatX2, Fox DHX, and Fox DHX2. Others may fit as well buy you’ll want to check clearance at full travel.

Can I use a shock with a longer stroke to increase the rear travel?

No, you will want to stick with the stock size.

Are these bikes tubeless compatible?

Yes, all bikes come setup with tubeless wheels and tires.

Are all sizes compatible with a water bottle?

Yes, they will all fit at least a small 21oz water bottle

Are spare keys available?

This bike will use a 6mm hex wrench to operate the latch to get the battery out. This is replaceable with the keyed version that is shared with the Powerfly if you want the added security, spare keys are available through ABUS if you choose to use this version.

What is the range?

Range depends on many factors, but on average, the range will be 4-7 hours. To calculate an approximate range based on factors such as rider weight or terrain, check out Bosch’s handy range calculator.

Is it compatible with Range Boost or PowerMore?

Yes, Rail is now compatible with the Bosch PowerMore. You will also need the 300mm long PowerMore cable.

Does it have wiring for lights or other electronic accessories?

It does have a pre-installed wire for a headlight.

How long does it take the battery to charge?

About 7 hours to charge the 800wh battery from empty.

Are software updates still required to be performed at the retailer?

No. The new Bosch smart system will do updates 'over the air'. The new Rail with Bosch smart system is regularly upgraded with new functions and always remains up-to-date – thanks to updates via the eBike Flow app.

Is Rail compatible with the Bosch Connect unit?

The Bosch Connect unit is compatible but will only fit the without the Motor Armor. We don’t recommend this for riding off road as then your motor will be susceptible to damage.
