You're a value-minded rider testing the waters of road cycling and want a drop-bar bike that's an upgrade in feel, speed and efficiency over a flat-bar hybrid or mountain bike. Domane AL 2 is a great choice if you're new to the road and want a quality road bike that you won't immediately outgrow.
The tech you get
The Shimano drivetrain has 16 speeds, with shifters that are integrated into the brake levers so your hands never have to leave the bars. The wide range of gears makes it easier to ride terrain that varies in elevation. The lightweight aluminium frame has mounts for mudguards and a carbon fork – a feature that's not typically available in road bikes at this price point.
The final word
Domane AL 2 is an ideal, comfort-first introduction to road riding. It's made for a great fit that's fast but not as aggressive as what you might see in the Tour de France. Plus, it's backed by our lifetime warranty.
The Walkthrough
Why you'll love it
It's a real road bike at a great price, and it gets you into the world of road cycling without a giant price tag
It's built according to Trek's performance heritage and backed by a lifetime warranty
The stable Endurance Geometry delivers comfort and confidence
The unique IsoSpeed Carbon fork, which swoops forward toward the dropouts, absorbs vibrations from the road so your arms won't fatigue as quickly
DuoTrap S compatibility makes it easy to wirelessly track your rides, so you can set goals and watch yourself reach them
'An astounding and affordable all-roader'
'Its crazily versatile, it can be so many different things, so it's really cool that it then rides so much like a road bike. I was really blown away.'
Setting your bike's tyre pressure correctly will give you a more comfortable ride with better grip and handling. Even better, it can help prevent flats
Pedals are two of the five touchpoints that connect you with your bike, and even though this bike comes with a pair, upgrading to pedals that boost control and grip will greatly improve your ride. See the pedal guide and find the best pedals for your riding style. We recommend flat pedals for simple versatility.
Performance. Stability. Victory. Trek endurance geometry is a triple threat, maximising control, handling and responsiveness through perfectly tuned rider weight bias.
IsoSpeed fork
It's a one-two punch: generous ride-tuned sweep and shape increases compliance for a smoother ride, and unique dropout placement optimises the wheelbase.
Rack mounts
Going for a long ride? Rack mounts make carrying accessories a breeze.
Additional Tyre Clearance
The additional tyre clearance allows the Domane to go where no road bike has gone before. Race, ride, explore.

How tall are you?
To measure your height, stand up straight, barefoot, with your back, heels, shoulders and head all touching a wall. While looking straight ahead, place a book or straight edge on your head and slowly push it against the wall. Your straight edge should be parallel with the floor. Mark the spot where the bottom of the book is touching the wall. The distance from the marked spot to the floor is your height.
What is your inside leg?
How to measure: Stand barefoot with your back straight and against a wall. Tuck a ruler or something that extends to the floor between your legs. Using both hands, and keeping it level, pull the ruler up into your crotch as if you were sitting on the saddle. Measure the distance from the top edge of the ruler to the ground to find your inside leg measurement. Your inside leg is very important to your final bike size so please measure carefully.
