As one of the more advanced techniques used in the Project One paint shop, painters are thoroughly trained to master the art of Tie Dye. The iconic look takes meticulous paint application and a big imagination.
This process begins with a white base coat before pastel or traditional tie dye colours are added to the frame. These colours not only need to be carefully applied and blended to get gradients of each hue, but to give each bike that radial, tie-dyed pattern you’d find on a t-shirt, painters have to imagine a centre location on the frame to begin their spiralling colour burst.
Each section is then painted as if the entire frame was tied with rubber bands, then dyed and rinsed – just as you’d do at home. The result? An always-fashionable, one-of-a-kind bike paint scheme that you can’t get anywhere else.
